Countdown To The Oscars

The Oscars is an annual event that celebrates excellence in the movie industry; it's a night where those who
have performed well in Hollywood and other foreign movie industries are rewarded accordingly for their fantastic performances (Nollywood non-inclusive)

If only, this was true(the nollywood part is true sha). The Oscars has time and time again disappointed movie lovers in their nominations and award recipients; the 88th Academy Awards (FYI that's the real name for the Oscars) will take place on Sunday and it has already gathered negative publicity for its all white nominations #OscarsSoWhite which has led to some Hollywood heavyweights like Spike Lee, Will Smith &Jada Pinkett Smith threatening to boycott the award show.

So what should we expect from the 88th Academy Awards?

Well, we may just see Mr. Leonardo Dicaprio get an Oscar award this year; having won Golden Globe, SAG & BAFTA awards for his performance in The Revenant (this movie might win in the best picture category). His fellow Best actor nominees are Bryan Cranston, Matt Damon, Michael Fassbender and Eddie Redmayne.

To be honest, Michael Fassbender delivered a stunning performance in the Steve Jobs biographical movie and should be the winner.

Unfortunately for him, He chose a wrong year to be in the same category with Mr Titanic; besides nobody cares about who's the best in that category... We just want to see Leo win.

Ace comedian, Chris Rock will be the host of this year's Academy Awards which is a welcome idea compared to last year's host (Neil Patrick Harris) who bored viewers.

Chris Rock has already started showing off his funny side by naming The Oscars "The White BET Awards" and saying that he's only hosting the show because Ellen Degeneres refused to host it. One can only expect that the comedian will deliver more controversial jokes at the event using the #OscarsSoWhite drama.

No matter what happens at the Oscars, we at SocialSpy NG will have the scoop on it.
